Zoliborz

Razed in the mid-19th century as a reprisal for the 1830 insurrection, the north Warsaw neighborhood was redeveloped in the 1920s. Some of the country-style villas have columns, porticoes and stepped roofs. On this April day, spring has put its toe in the water. Tulip buds are nascent ― colorful but still tight. Cherry blossoms are thinking about rioting but still ramping up. Exciting times!

On the snack front, Zoliborz appears to be powered by cake, ice cream and weak coffee. I am beginning to believe Poland is a tea-loving nation (sigh) but I am prepared to adapt.

A picturesque pond, and a reminder to yield for frogs.

Street-level messageboard on Alojzego Felinskiego. I miss this.

The horse chestnut tree at left was planted in 1870. Imagine.
